Setting up Fasthosts broadband, on its own or as part of a network, is easy.
Whether you’re choosing one of our ADSL package or premium VDSL broadband. Simply follow our straightforward instructions to get online in minutes.

1. Power supply
Router and modem to be positioned within reach of a power supply.

2. BT telephone line
Your master BT wall socket must be connected to an ADSL enabled exchange.

3. Microfilter
Splits your BT socket in two: One for voice (phone) and one for data (broadband) - connecting to your router / modem.

4. Router & modem
ADSL Combined router and modem.
OR separate router and modem. -
5. Your normal phone
Plug your phone into the microfilter and use as normal, even when you're using the Internet.

6. Computer
Windows, LInux or Mac.

7. Ethernet cable
Used to connect your computer to your router during setup.

8. Wireless connection
Wireless connection to router can be made following initial setup.

Your master BT wall socket must be connected to a VDSL enabled exchange. Your existing master BT wall socket will be updated with a new VDSL faceplate as part of your free BT Engineer appointment. This new socket faceplate will contain a separate port for voice (phone) and data (broadband), with no need for a microfilter.

3. Router & modem
VDSL modem (supplied free with your BT Engineer appointment - not supported by Fasthosts) plus separate router (not included).

4. Your normal phone
Plug your phone directly into your VDSL compatible BT wall socket and use as normal, even when you're using the Internet.
