My Fasthosts career

I was recruited in 2003 as a Technical Support Advisor. In 2004 I joined the 2nd Line team which deals with more complex customer queries. In 2005 I attended the Fasthosts Management training program and was then promoted to the role of Network Engineer, which fits in well with my career plans. I hold a Cisco CCNA certification and am currently studying for the CCNP, with a long-term aim of achieving the prestigious CCIE certification.

Fasthosts – the best thing

Fasthosts has a diverse network incorporating various cutting edge network and server technologies. As such it is a challenging place for a Network Engineer to work as you need a wide array of skill and experience along with first rate diagnostic abilities. Luckily the Fasthosts network manager is an expert in his field so I’m learning from the one of the best!

Many long lasting friendships are forged between Fasthosts staff due to the close working relationships we maintain.

Fasthosts – the worst thing

Working within any network operations centre brings some stressful times, and Fasthosts is certainly no exception due to the standards of excellence which we strive to maintain. As such it helps to be the type of person who thrives under pressure rather than falling to pieces! Fortunately I consider myself to have a cool head when the going gets tough.

About me

Outside of my interests in computer networks I'm a keen surfer, which is a pain in land-locked Gloucester!

I also play keyboard in a ska / klezmer band – available for birthdays, weddings and bahmitzvahs!
