Prepare your domain for transfer

• Ensure that the admin contact email address for your domain name is up to date.
  It is crucial that you have access to this email address to transfer your domain name.
  Contact your current domain provider if you need to update this email address.
• Check that your domain name has been registered for at least 60 days.
• Start your domain name transfer at least 40 days after its renewal date.
• Ask your current domain name provider to unlock your domain name for transfer.
• Request your domain's Authorisation Code from your current provider.
  You will be asked to confirm the Authorisation Code to authorise your domain name transfer.

Initiate the transfer

Log into your Fasthosts account and click "Register & transfer domains" on the main page. Then just follow the on-screen instructions to add your domain name and initiate your domain name transfer.

Authorise the transfer

Shortly after you have made your domain name transfer request, our international domain registrar (OpenSRS) will send an email to your domain name's admin contact email address asking you to authorise the domain name transfer. All you need to do is follow the easy domain transfer instructions in the email to complete the move to Fasthosts.

The transfer must be authorised within 5 days of OpenSRS sending you the email. It may then take a few more days to complete the transfer - but it's worth it for the superb service and excellent value you'll get once your domain name is with us here at Fasthosts.
