Exchange mailboxes in Mac Mail

Note: Mac Mail allows you to send and receive email using your Exchange box but does not give you access to all the Exchange box's features.

This is your first mailbox in Mac Mail

Step 1: Open Mac Mail and the Welcome to Mail window will open.

Step 2: Enter your name in the Full Name text-box.

Step 3: Enter your email address in the Email Address text-box.

Step 4: Enter exchange.livemail.co.uk in the Incoming Mail Server text-box.

Step 5: Select Exchange from the Account Type drop-down list.

Step 6: Enter your email address in the User Name text-box.

Step 7: Use the Password text-box to enter the password you chose when you created the mailbox.

Step 8: Enter exchange.livemail.co.uk in the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) text-box.

Note: If your ISP blocks outgoing SMTP email on port 25, try port 225 or port 587 in the Server port text-box. Find out more in our article Outgoing email is blocked by my ISP.

Step 9: Enter exchange.livemail.co.uk in the Outlook Web Access Server text-box.

Step 10: Click OK.

Step 11: Click Preferences in the Mail menu.

Step 12: In the Accounts window, click the Server Settings button.

Step 13: Select Password from the Authentication drop-down list.

Note: If your ISP blocks outgoing SMTP email on port 25, try port 225 or port 587 in the Server port text-box. Find out more in our article Outgoing email is blocked by my ISP.

Step 14: Enter your email address in the User name text-box.

Step 15: Enter your mailbox password in the Password text-box.

Step 16: Click the OK button.

You already have other mailboxes set up in Mac Mail

Step 1: Open Mac Mail and click Preferences in the Mail menu.

Step 2: Select Exchange in the Account Type drop-down list.

Step 3: Enter a description for the mailbox in the Description text-box.

Step 4: Enter the mailbox's email address in the Email Address text-box.

Step 5: Enter your name in the Full Name text-box.

Step 6: Enter exchange.livemail.co.uk in the Incoming Mail Server text-box.

Step 7: Enter your email address in the User Name text-box.

Step 8: Enter your password in the Password text-box.

Step 9: Select exchnage.livemail.co.uk as your outgoing mail server. If you haven't used this outgoing mail server with Mac Mail before, you made need to add it to Mail's outgoing server list.

Step 10: Click the Server Settings button.

Step 11: Select Password from the Authentication drop-down list.

Step 12: Enter your email address in the User Name text-box.

Step 13: Enter your mailbox password in the Password text-box, then click OK.

Step 14: Back on the account setup window, enter exchange.livemail.co.uk in the Outlook Web Access Server text-box.

Step 15: Close the window, choosing to save your changes if prompted.
