Why have I been moved to the probation server?

Your website was on a shared server where all resources are shared between each of the domains hosted on the server.

We maintain a high level of performance across our shared servers, however should a domain effect the performance of other domains on the server by using excessive resources we will move the offending domain to the probation server.

This could be due to a number of reasons including, but not limited to:

What do I do if my website has been moved to the probation server?

Several preliminary tests are made to ensure that we correctly identify the cause of the excessive resource usage. If your domain has been identified as a cause of poor performance for other users of your server we will move your website to the probation server and email you, explaining why we have needed to take this action.

This will allow you time to make the necessary changes to your website without effecting other users or having to take your site offline.

Warning: Moving your site will change the IP address of your webserver. If you are using external DNS to point your domain name to your webservers IP address your website will fail to resolve correctly.

Once the domain has been moved onto our probation servers you will have 7 days to review your scripts and take any action necessary.

After 7 days we will review your site and take the following action.

If you have adjusted your site for a shared environment

You will be moved back to a shared hosting server. Once on our shared platform your domain will have a 6 month probationary period. If, during this period, your domain causes another resources issue we will permanently suspend your domain.

If the issue has not been resolved

We will suspend your domain and email services. You will then have an additional 7 days to contact us and resolve the problem.

If, after this time, the issue has not been resolved and your domain has not been moved back to our standard hosting platform your domain will be permanently suspended.

Note: Although we will inform you of the reasons for this action we will not be able to check your individual scripts or advise you on remedies for scripting issues.

What can I do if my domain has been permanently suspended?

You will be sent an email informing you that we have permanently suspended your domain. Once suspended you can retrieve your website content by contacting support@Fasthosts.co.uk with your account number and PIN.

Content will be made available via a downloadable zip or tgz file for a period of 1 month. After this time you will not be able to recover any content.

Important: If your domain has been permanently suspended we will not be able to retrieve any emails, or email content.
