Managing your DNS for Fasthosts email-only packages

The basics

Our email packages allow you to host your email with Fasthosts and your website with another provider.

So that ISPs know where to send your email, you need to make a small change to your domain name's registration.

How you make the change depends on where your domain is currently registered and hosted.

Domain is registered with Fasthosts

If your domain is registered through Fasthosts, you can change the MX record within your control panel.

Domain is registered elsewhere

You first need to find out if your current web host or registration provider allows you to make changes to your domain's MX record.

If they do, you can provide them with a host name they can use to forward emails to your Fasthosts account. Your host name can be found within your Fasthosts control panel.

Step 1: Log into your Fasthosts control panel and visit your list of mailboxes.

Step 2: The host name for your domain will be shown at the foot of the screen.

Quick tip: Your DNS provider may also ask you which priority you would like this MX record set up with. If this is your only MX record a priority of 10 will be sufficient.

Accessing your email

If you host your domain with a provider other than Fasthosts/UKreg, but use Livemail for your email, you can access your web mail at www.fasthosts.co.uk/webmail

Alternatively, you can set up the relevant sub-domains with your external DNS provider. Follow our knowledge-base article IP addresses for webmail, Outlook Web Access and other Fasthosts services sub-domains.
