Outlook Web Access asks for Office 2000 installation CD
If Microsoft Office 2000 is installed on your computer and you use Outlook Web Access, you may be asked to insert your Office 2000 installation CD the first time you access OWA with Internet Explorer.
You can easily remove the message. Either:
- recommended: insert the Microsoft Office 2000 installation CD
- or make two changes to your Windows registry.
Adjust your Windows registry
Warning: Making changes to your Windows registry can damage your operating system, possibly resulting in the loss of data. We strongly recommend that you only attempt to change your Windows registry if you:
- only make the changes we describe here
- are experienced in maintaining the Windows registry
- take full responsibility for any errors caused by editing your Windows registry.
We have assumed you're running Windows XP for the purposes of explaining the registry change. The process should be the same for other versions of Windows that are likely to experience this problem.
Keys to edit
- HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{010E6CBE-FE2B-11D0-B079-006008058A0E} \InprocServer32 key
- HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{438DA5E0-F171-11D0-984E-0000F80270F8}\InprocServer32\InprocServer32
Expand the value in both keys, then remove the entry in each.
The change will only take effect once you have restarted your computer.
