Importing a .pst file into into an Exchange mailbox

Customers moving from local storage to using Exchange mailboxes can still have access to their old emails, contacts, appointments, etc. This data can quite easily be imported from a number of different file types containing the old emails, contacts, appointments, etc into your Exchange mailbox on the Exchange server. This article describes how to import data from a .pst file type, into Microsoft Outlook.

Note Before starting this procedure you should configure Outlook to syncronise with your exchange mailbox.

Step 1: In Microsoft Outlook, click File then Import and Export in the drop down menu.

Step 2: Select Import from another program or file and click Next.

Step 3: Select the .pst file type and click Next.

Step 4: Click the Browse button and navigate to the .pst file you wish to import. Select the file, click Open and Next.

Step 5: Select the folder you wish to import from and check the box if you want to include sub-folders. You should also specify to import into the currently selected folder, or specify an alternative folder to import to.

Step 6: Click Finish to complete the process. An import progress indicator dialogue box will pop-up, the import process will commence and the imported data will appear in the selected folders.
