What is push email?

Push email connects your mobile device directly to your Exchange mailbox.

When a new email arrives, we push it directly to your mobile device. Depending on which version of push email you choose, you can also access your calendars, contacts and tasks, wherever you have a GPRS or 3G connection.

We currently offer two push email services for Exchange mailboxes:

Quick Tip: While we are unable to offer direct support for individual BlackBerry devices, BlackBerry functionality on your Fasthosts mailboxes can usually be set up by your mobile service provider. See our article Can I use a BlackBerry with Fasthosts? for more details.

Direct Push

Exchange Direct Push is included with Windows Mobile 5 and above, and is automatically enabled on your Exchange mailbox.

You can start using Direct Push on your Windows Mobile device by setting up ActiveSync.

Good Mobile Messaging

If you don't have a Windows Mobile 5 or above device, Good Mobile Messaging offers you push email for a number of devices running:

You can check if your mobile device is compatible with both types of push email in our table of supported devices.

Note: Exchange Direct Push and Good Mobile Messaging cannot be used on the same device at once.
