The event, which is being billed as the biggest of its kind in more than a generation, will open on1 June 2012 and will echo similar events held in London in 1851 and 1951 but will showcase the advances and innovations that put Britain at the forefront of digital development, celebrating British creativity andentrepreneurialism.

To support our role as the Technology Sponsor we will also be encouraging
individuals and businesses to get online in the lead up to the Great Exhibition.
Every month between now and the opening on 1st June 2012 we will award a worthy applicant
with the infrastructure (laptop, software and hosting services) they need to be successful online, so that 25 new web based businesses or community organisations will be operating in the UK by the time the gates open. Each
month we will also award free hosting services to another 20 other
individuals or organisations with great ideas but limited resources to
enable those ideas to become reality, bringing another 500 sites
online. In both these cases there will be a special award during the
Great Exhibition to recognise and celebrate the best new online
business and best online community project from these
participants.

To take part in this, all you have to do is complete a simple
application, whether that’s for support of a new or existing business,
or a personal, charitable or community organisation website.
