Top 10 Minecraft mods
It’s been a long time since we last dug into the world of Minecraft. But don’t worry, gamers – we haven’t forgotten about you. We’ve just been working on improving our own Gaming Servers… more on that later, we promise.
In the meantime, looking for another way to enhance your Minecraft experience? We’ve got one word for you – mods.
10 Minecraft mods you need to try
Whether you want to explore new terrains, discover unique items, or simply scare yourself silly, there’s a modification for it. Here are 10 of our favourites.
1. Mine Cells
Best for: Dungeon exploration
Based on the popular Motion Twin game Dead Cells, this mod spawns randomly generated entrances to dungeons for players to explore. That means new loot, new mobs, and new dimensions are all at your fingertips. Plus, if you’re lucky (or very unlucky) you’ll run into two unique bosses to defeat along the way.
2. Scout
Best for: Larger inventory
Ever been mining your business underground when you come across some fabled deepslate emerald ore… only to find your inventory is full? It happens to the best of us. Fortunately, Scout is here to save the day by “physically” extending your inventory through various bag types. Kind of like makamys’ earlier Satchels mod.
3. Gliders
Best for: Gliders, obviously
This mod does exactly what it says on the tin. It provides players with a glider, allowing them to explore the game from a unique vantage point, or just to descend safely from a height. Simple, vanilla-friendly, and we love it.
4. FNAF Management Wanted
Best for: FNAF superfans
This nightmare-fuel mod is what happens when you cross the horrifying world of Five Nights at Freddy’s with cave exploration. Discover 7 new FNAF-inspired locations and evade animatronic mobs all night long if you want to survive. Just don’t get too close – Fazbear isn’t as cuddly as he looks.
5. The Boiled One
Best for: Paranoia-inducing horror
If you thought FNAF was scary, get ready to sleep with the lights on for a week. The Boiled One generates a terrifying mob with glowing red eyes that stalks players throughout the game map, torturing them with ghostly voices as it draws closer, and spawning above their beds while they sleep. Oh, and did we mention the blood rain? Enjoy!
6. Weeping Angels
Best for: Doctor Who fans
Ever wanted the chance to star in your very own Doctor Who episode? Well, this might be the closest you’ll get to the Tardis. The Weeping Angels mod spawns one of the Whoniverse’s most iconic villains, who follow you around the map and attack when you’re not looking. Don’t worry, though. Unlike The Boiled One, they don’t deal damage – only teleport you to a different map or dimension.
7. Lucky Block
Best for: Random items
That’s more than enough horror for a lifetime. Lucky Block takes it back to vanilla-friendly basics, generating Super Mario-style randomised mystery boxes all around the world. The blocks have over 100 possible outcomes – some as helpful as new items or chests, while others might spawn an angry mob if you’re unlucky.
8. TerraFirmaCraft
Best for: Unique terrains
A Minecraft Movie might have been the film event of the spring, but TerraFirmaCraft is a reminder that the best cinematic experience Minecraft has to offer is in the game itself. This total conversion mod generates an entirely new map, designed to mimic the real-world wilderness survival experience. From stunning mountains and unique structures to winding rivers and lush flora, this is Minecraft like you’ve never seen before.
9. Thermite
Best for: Survivalists
Similar to TerraFirmaCraft, this fabric mod presents you with new survival challenges to overcome. Thermite adds a body temperature measurement system based on your current biome, the time of day, and weather conditions – get too cold or too hot and you’ll take damage, meaning you’ve got more than just mobs to worry about.
10. Better Archaeology
Best for: Adventure-seekers
Fancy yourself Minecraft’s answer to Indiana Jones? Make your Indy dreams come true with Better Archaeology. This mod generates ancient fossils, unique artifacts, and historic structures for players to unearth – complete with loot to gather along the way. Just watch out for those traps, kid.
Make your game your way
Whether you’re going full vanilla mode or you want to switch up your gameplay with a mod or two, Minecraft lets you play your way.
