The Role

If you are passionate about the Cloud Native Arena, have solid experience and understanding of the inner workings of Kubernetes (from bootstrapping a cluster from the ground up, to extending core functionality by means of custom resources and the operator framework) then this is a rare and exciting opportunity to design and build bleeding-edge platforms around Kubernetes and Cloud Native services that will directly contribute to the growth of the Ionos Cloud across Europe.

We have an ongoing requirement for Cloud Engineers with expertise in the Container Hosting Platform Kubernetes, for full time, permanent positions in Gloucester City Centre - offering flexible working, the opportunity to work with cutting edge technologies, competitive salary and benefits, and a great team of people too!

Working within the UK Engineering team you will design and build PaaS product platforms and ecosystem services in the Ionos Cloud as part of an exciting period of growth as one of Europe's leading Cloud providers. The current roadmap for the team is dominated by the development of Container Hosting Platforms and their supporting services using Redhat’s Openshift and K8.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Research, Experiment and Recommend appropriate technology solutions to improve our platform offerings according to the organisation's product roadmap
  • Design, Build, implement, test and document new PaaS solutions
  • Build relationships and work collaboratively with teams within a global organization
  • Provide operational support to new platforms and solutions through launch and product lifecycle

What experience do I need?


  • Demonstrate deep "under-the-hood" knowledge of Kubernetes
  • Understanding of DevOps and Cloud Native Development practices
  • Competent in troubleshooting complex issues within container hosting platforms
  • Proven experience with advanced Linux server administration
  • Ability to design, author, test and release code in languages such as Python, Ruby, Golang
  • Solid understanding of version control and CI/CD principles
  • Strong sense of ownership and integrity demonstrated by clear communication and collaboration with others within a global organization
  • Familiarity with microservice architecture


  • Experienced in the development of Kubernetes operators
  • Experience building and operating multi-tenant container hosting platforms
  • Experience with configuration management and automation systems, such as Foreman, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, or Chef
  • A solid understanding of monitoring and logging technologies (Elastic, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Experience of working within an Internet Hosting Service Provider.
