As part of our commitment to supporting the local community, we’re shouting out the businesses and organisations doing incredible work around Gloucestershire. One of these organisations is Linc.

Situated just a stone’s throw away from us at their HQ in Patch at The Forum, Linc was founded in 1998 by Dr Robert Dalton, a Consultant Haematologist at Cheltenham General Hospital. It’s now become one of the oldest charities across both Gloucester and Cheltenham hospital.

Linc sits within the Haematology departments in both Gloucester Royal and Cheltenham. At the heart of Haematology care, they work alongside clinical teams, always on hand to offer support to patients when they need it.

With a small but impactful team, Linc keeps its patients and their needs at the heart of what they do, making sure they’re always ready to react when required. They provide both emotional and financial support to blood cancer patients and their families across Gloucestershire hospitals. Their passion to help is clear when looking at the services they provide, from community fundraising events to participating in the London Marathon.

As a local charity born and bred in Gloucester, Linc prides itself on being authentic, with the sort of team that you can pop by for a cup of tea with. Their recent expansion to Patch marks a big step in their development, and has given them a safe, community space to host patients, as well as grow their presence in Gloucester. They decided to expand into Patch following patient feedback in their research for their ‘New Chapter 5 Year Strategy’, but still keep a strong presence across both Gloucester and Cheltenham hospitals.

As part of their 5 year plan, Linc is focusing on what their patients really need, and have built a space within their new HQ where people can come and feel comfortable in an area away from the hospital. This also involves a free, bespoke counseling service, launching in May 2026, tailored to the needs of both blood cancer patients and their families. Working together with the NHS Trust, patients can either be referred by the hospital, or self-refer on Linc’s website, ensuring the service is available to all who need it.

The launch of their counselling service marks the start of an expansion into offering a wider, all round support service – including a peer-to-peer support group, growing on their existing patient support groups and activity groups. Linc’s aim is always to keep a focus on what patients and families would like and what they would benefit from.

Linc also has 2 charity shops based in Cheltenham (on Bath Road and Winchcombe Street) – well worth a visit if you’re looking for an easy way to support and get a good find! Within both shops, you’ll find their Reloved range, where staff and volunteers upcycle items that would usually go to rag, and often sell for more than 4 times what you’d get for rag!

Now more than ever Linc is needing the support of the local community. Whether you’re looking to become a regular giver, volunteer, fundraise through a challenge event or become a charity partner, they’re looking for the generous support of every individual.

If you want to get involved, you can find all information about fundraising and volunteering on their website. And while you’re there, why not give them a follow?
