Life is strange reunion – 26th March

It’s been 2 years since we last stepped into the world of Life is Strange, and this March Max and Chloe are back for another wild, and possibly emotional, adventure. In a game series that started 11 years ago, Square Enix weren’t quite done with these two yet.

Now at university, Chloe reunites with Max as she tries to deal with memories of a life or death she didn’t live out. And it wouldn’t be a Life is Strange game without some sort of impending doom – this time an impending inferno.

And for the first time, you’ll be able to play as both characters, experiencing their individual powers throughout the story, with more flexible gameplay.

Available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.

Pragmata – 24th April

It’s not even out yet and Pragmata is already causing a stir online – not for the right reasons. But let’s look at the game first.

In this action-adventure, you follow spacefarer Hugh and his android companion Diana, fighting the AI that controls their research station. Created by Resident Evil developer Capcom, this game promises to be engaging, challenging, and unique in both its story and combat.

Unfortunately not all press is good press, as the game has picked up some controversy already relating to the character of Diana. Reddit has now banned the Pragmata Subreddit for sexual and suggestive content about Diana, including several mods that had been created about her. Despite this, the game is still highly-anticipated and we’ll be looking out for its release in April.

Available on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

In the latest release from Supermassive Games, the studio behind Until Dawn and The Quarry,  Directive 8020 puts players on a crashed colony ship. If you’re a fan of their previous releases, this game seems to be in the classic Supermassive Games style.

Described as a ‘new chapter of horror’, this game combines realistic locations and character designs with intense survival gameplay and the ability to rewind decisions. Fight deadly aliens, unlock multiple endings, and make choices to save your crew.

With another great cast, and cinematography that’s straight off the big screen, Directive 8020 already looks like it’ll be a top contender for game of the year.

Nocturne – 30th June

If you like challenging, arcade-style, RPGs about the afterlife then this is the game for you. Nocturne combines nostalgic graphics, skill-based rhythm combat, and full RPG mechanics for a unique playing experience.

Another amazing fact about this game is that all of the music used in the boss fights was recorded live by the Slovak National Symphony Orchestra. It really adds a strong element of atmosphere and tension to the battles.

If you want to give it a try, they’ve now released a longer demo on Steam so players can get a taste of what’s to come. But from the gameplay footage so far, it looks like a ton of fun.

GTA 6 – 19th November

Think back to 2013 – the Harlem Shake, the end of Breaking Bad, Ben Affleck as Batman, and, of course, GTA 5. What a time to be alive. If these things brought back a wave of nostalgia for you, then you’re going to be buzzing over this next game release.

It’s become an ongoing joke now – we got this before GTA 6, we got that before GTA 6 – but finally it seems like we’ve got a confirmed release date. Although saying that, we might have jinxed it!

Set in Leonida, a fictional US state, GTA 6 promises all the action, high stakes, and world-building of the previous games, amped up to eleven. Criminal couple Jason and Lucinda lead this story, alongside a whole cast of exciting new characters and locations. And from the first trailer, the graphics and gameplay look incredible.

So, will GTA 6 live up to the hype? We’ll have to wait until November to find out.

Available on PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
